“The Children” Game of Thrones Season Four Episode Ten

Spoilers:

What a way to end the season.

I just need to sum up everything I loved in this episode. Here we go. Stannis’s entrance in the North when Jon was trying to assassinate Mance, was straight out of a historical poem from the middle ages. It was epic and strategic. But then we have Jon wanting to spare Mance’s life, because that’s what his father would have done. I thought that Jon was a great testament to his Father.

Brienne is definitely the alpha when she beat the Hound to a pulp. Although, before that when Brienne was talking to Arya, it was like she was talking to her younger self and Arya was talking to her older self. I loved that association. But fast forwarding a bit to when Arya left the Hound to die, I thought that showed so much of her character growth. When she first started out, she would have struck her sword in his heart if that would have happened, but now she flourishes with maturity. I can’t wait to see her next season.

It was heartbreaking when Dany shut two of her dragons in the vaults. You could tell it tore her apart. She wanted to let them roam free, but dragons are known to cause destruction (as we see the reason why she shut them in the vault).

And then Bran, Jojen, Hodor, and Meera finally reaching the tree. I did hate that Jojen died by those horrid living skeletons, but I am excited to see what happens in the next season for Bran. And especially now that we’ve seen those children. They’re quite eerie, but beautiful. It really exceeded my expectations on what I thought the Children would look like.

And last but certainly not least, the twisted Lannister clan. Cersei basically outing her and Jaime to her Father, Jaime releasing Tyrion from the prison to let him go free, and the icing on the cake when Tyrion murdered both Shae and his Father. My goodness, if that doesn’t say Happy Father’s Day, I don’t know what does. And now Viserys is in it to help Tyrion get out of danger. I’m very excited about their relationship next season.

Like I said, a very great episode to end the show, but they should have shown a peek at Lady Stoneheart. For anyone that read the book, you will know what I’m talking about. When she showed up in the book, I nearly threw my book across the room (I had a mixture of emotions). Oh well, hopefully she will come in next season.

I did tweet the episode, so you can read my tweets on my twitter. My twitter handle is essiedarcy.

Until next season,

Most Sincerely,

Jessica
