The Little Brother I Never Had

At the end of July, I got the chance to visit one of my best friends in Georgia. I stayed at her house for over a week, but since she had an internship on the weekdays, I only got to hang out with her in the evenings and on the weekends. So that meant I had some time to kill in the morning and the afternoon. Throughout the day, I would go out to the pool and cool off or I would hang out in her basement and watch some movies, but some of the best time I had was hanging out with her little brother, Garnett.

Now, Garnett is around eight years old, so he’s in the age of Transformers, Legos, and Minecraft. But what I absolutely love about this kid, is that he loves being around people and he enjoys the little things. While my little sister hung out with her best friend, I got to spend a day with the little brother I never had.

Garnett and I spent the day making homemade pizza rolls, playing board games, and ending it with an invitation to a super exclusive Pool Party (homemade invitation below).

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to the Pool Party until the weekend, but the day spent with Garnett was so much fun. When I was younger (and still to this day), I had always wanted a little brother. Someone to pass my knowledge of fandom culture and engage in lightsaber battle with, but Garnett has been a great substitute for now. I have known Garnett since he was around a year old and it astounds me to know how much he is grown.

Garnett is and will always be the best little brother I never had.

Most Sincerely,

Jessica
